The Middlesex County College performing arts/college center is the hub of student activity on the Middlesex County College campus. It houses such spaces as registration and dining facilities, lounges, and a theater. The purpose of this project was to expand the college center with a studio/black box theater and to renovate the existing main theater for enhanced performances. Symbolic of a parting curtain opening to visitors on the campus green, the design features a curving glass enclosed lobby. It serves to join the two theaters on the interior while providing an animated new face for a performing arts center on the exterior.
Scope of work included renovations to an existing student center and a new performing arts center addition on an occupied campus. New mechanical, electrical distribution, fire alarm and emergency systems were installed and integrated to support the existing center and new addition.
