St. Anne’s Villa

Convent Station, NJ

Client: Sisters of Saint Elizabeth

Project: Saint Anne’s Villa

Epic’s role: Construction Manager-at-risk

Construction costs: $16 million

Completion date: 2009

Project scope: The Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ, selected Epic Management, Inc. to perform pre-construction and general contracting services for a multiphase addition and alteration at Saint Anne’s Villa.

Phase I of the project included a new 63,000 sf, eighty bed Long-Term Care facility. Phase II of the project consisted of a complete renovation of the existing five-story 27,000 sf facility to provide 21 additional Assisted Care units and support spaces.

The new structure surrounds an elaborate exterior therapeutic garden and is characterized by interior and exterior architectural features influenced by the details of the original 1930 Gothic Revival building. To accommodate current residents, the three-story addition of Phase I was made fully operational prior to starting Phase II.

The project scope included interior demolition, window replacement, and installation of all new building systems as well as restoration of all interior finishes. Prior to commencement of new construction, Epic was responsible for the demolition of an outdated three-story residential wing adjacent to the occupied existing building. Phase I was completed in 2003 and Phase II was completed in 2004.
